Summary


The WebFocus Developer is responsible for the realization of business requirements through the design, development, and engineering of moderately to highly complex business intelligence solutions. Development tasks and assignments primarily accomplished using the WebFOCUS tool suite. This individual will possess specialized technical skills within the domain of software engineering. Responsible for creation of detailed specifications, diagrams, and other programming structures from which programs are written. Designs, builds, tests, and documents moderately to highly complex WebFOCUS reports, in addition to assisting with deployment and maintenance tasks.



Key Activities


Proficient in contributing to the analysis, design, and implementation of technology solutions, utilizing broad industry awareness and expertise.
Analyzes requirements and participates in the resulting design activities for moderately to highly complex business applications in the context of the full software development life cycle.
As appropriate, independently design, document, and develop user interface and business intelligence to meet business requirements.
Proficient at implementing systems and software components, in compliance with Industry and System standards, which meet customer needs and expectations with respect to key project/product performance measures; quality, schedule, and cost.
As appropriate, communicates frequently in various customer and System IT forums to ensure clear understanding of business needs and requirements.
Work closely with team members to ensure portal needs are met by development. Works independently to analyze business rules to determine user interface and design impacts.
Once implemented, responsible for the ongoing operational support and performance of the solution.
Recommend and implement software development standards.
Effectively communicate status and development challenges through development team lead and management.
Routinely seeks guidance and mentoring from lead developers and architects during the implementation phase, to ensure implementations meet design specifications and adhere to established standards.
Train and guide less experienced developers. Consults with customers in a support role or when assisting more senior level staff in the formulation of technology strategies in collaboration with business partners.
Leads by example and demonstrates high performance in the areas of customer service, collaboration, team work, and reliability.
Raises issues and risks in a timely fashion and effectively contributes to mitigating activities.
Provide troubleshooting, issue resolution, and installation/configuration/upgrade support.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an information technology field (e.g., Computer/Management Information Systems (MIS/CIS), Computer Science (CS), Electrical/Computer Engineering (EE/CE), or an equivalent combination of related education and/or work experience.
Advanced skill in the development of WebFOCUS reports and use of ReportCaster.
Typically requires six to eight years of relevant and progressive information technology experience directly related to the design and development of software solutions; including substantial experience in enterprise-class solutions.
Established knowledge with Industry software development methodologies, standards and architecture frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new technologies.
Moderate project management skills.
Advanced **** and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex technical information to technical and non-technical contacts.
Excellent planning and organization skills.
Excellent initiative, innovative thinking skills, and the ability to analyze details and adopt a big-picture view.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, including the ability to think logically and analytically.
