Hi there, I was recently laid off by a company in Portland, OR. The new
WebFOCUS developers and department Manager are considering contracting me
on an hourly basis. My question is what are the going rates for a WebFOCUS
contractor? Any help I can get on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I would be interested in this information also, as well as for a WebFOCUS project manager contract. Thanks!

One thing that I hope you bear in mind when quoting for a contract is that the rate will differ quite dramatically depending upon your experience and expertise. If you take some of our newer contributors who are still learning the language then you will understand that they would in no way attract the same sort of rate as someone like Sandy (above) who has far more experience.

They will also differ depending upon the part of the world and the location within a country depending upon exchange rates and local living costs - but then you knew that already Wink

Thanks for your comments Tony: "to bring folks down to earth". I'm a Senior WebFOCUS Consultant and have been contracting with and without IB for years and know that there are no benchmark rates. Like you said, (paraphased) there are many factors that go into the determination of a rate: experience, expertise, communications, location, travel / relocation, yada, yada, yada... So, as the car industry says: your mileage (rate) may vary...

And to bring you folks a bit more down to earth.... you may have noticed on the board that a lot of people are offering themselves for a job. So the rate will change depending on your expertise, but also on the availability of WebFOCUS consultants.

Please keep in mind that while "the availability of WebFOCUS consultants" does influence rates, you do get what you pay for. The quality that comes from experience has proven to be worth the cost in the overall ROI.
