Was looking at the 7.7.06 iWay Data Migrator User Guide in the "General Guidelines for Synonyms" section and noticed it says...
"When naming a synonym, you must avoid the following: A name beginning with the letters ETL or SYS. These prefixes are reserved for DataMigrator internal use."..... I have numerous synonyms whose names begin with "etl". Been using them for a couple years now and haven't noticed any problems. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

We were being over cautious. For sure don't use ETLLOG* or ETLSTAT*. DataMigrator doesn't currently use any other names starting with ETL.

Beware as IBI tightens code you may run into issues down the road having synonyms whose names begin with 'etl'. I know when migrating from WebFOCUS 7.7 to WebFOCUS 8 there are a number of items to look for due to tightening of the code.

From a 'Best Practices' point of view within any of our products it is best to avoid a 'word' that might be used within WebFOCUS product line.

There are lists of some words to avoid on the TechSupport Center - Search Knowledge Base.

When in doubt change the name or the case and see if this works.
