[Solved]Resource Analyzer: SMRPCNAME & SMWFRPCNAME field values
In the SMQUERY table the SMRPCNAME field value can be blank, and in the SMRPCS table the SMRPCNAME field can have values of ‘Ad-Hoc’ or ‘adhocrq’.
Digging a bit more, when the SMRPCS table field SMRPCNAME value is ‘Ad-Hoc’, the value in the SMWFRPCNAME is ‘AdhocRequest’. However, when the SMRPCS table field SMRPCNAME value is ‘adhocrq’, the value in the SMWFRPCNAME is Blank.

What are the factors that lists these as an Ad Hoc request? What’s the difference between an ‘Ad-Hoc’ and a ‘adhocrq’ request? What sets them apart?
What are the different situations that sets the SMRPCNAME & SMWFRPCNAME field values to these different values and/or combinations?

Hi wdusbank,

I consulted with our iWay people, and was suggested that you may want to open a case with Customer Support Services for further assistance, since this may involved more programming research. To open a case, please either call at 1-800-736-6130, or access online at InfoResponse.

Below is some suggestion/info that may be of interest:

The SMQUERY.SMRPCNAME will be blank for all Ad-Hoc requests. This is a UC issue for customers that have been using Resource Analyzer for many years. In Resource Analyzer we use a DEFINE to assign ‘Ad-Hoc’ to blank SMQUERY.SMRPCNAME records so they can be grouped on for reporting.

The values in SMRPCS fields are different. WebFOCUS sends the server several GKE commands in it data stream that control what is in the SMRPCNAME and SMWFRPCNAME fields. At the request of customers any request the has been opened in an editing tool and the RUN function was used to display the results it will be classified as an Ad-Hoc request and literal ‘Ad-Hoc’ was chosen to be the value used in SMRPCNAME. The value in SMWFRPCNAME is controlled by WebFOCUS and its value is determined by GKE commands sent by WebFOCUS. The rules for the usage these GKE commands are in default.wfs and they change over time. Since WF release 7.6.1 there has been fixes applied to default.wfs to correct the usage of the commands. The situation of SMRPCNAME with a value of ‘adhocrq’ and a blank SMWFRPCNAME indicates that the request may not have come from WebFOCUS.

Cheers,

Kerry
