SHARE DIRECTORY FOR DM

We have been getting errors with our nightly backups for this directory within DM: /srv76/dm/share. I can't seem to find any specifics within the documentation regarding this directory and what it's purpose is. If this is used for holding temp files then I am guessing we may be able to skip the contents for the nightly backups but i was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on what this diectory is used for by the application.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

The following Symptom-Problem-Solution page may be of help.

Symptom Section
Edaprint.log:
PTH creation error
cannot create shared memory, see reason in edapth traces atr1shmopn
Workspace initialization aborted

Traces:
r1shmope: file mapping name=Global\D:/IBI/SRV71/WFS/SHARE/001
r1shmope: CreateFile(D:\ibi\srv71\wfs\share\001)
r1shmope: CreateFileMapping(000000DC)
r1trcerr: r1shmopen: err#5, Access is denied.
r1shmope: create failed
r1shmclo: called to remove id=1

Problem Section
The above error message appears in the edaprint and in traces when starting the server from Start/Programs. Server starts up successfully from services and from a dos box using edastart -srvstart.

Solution Section
Make sure the user starting the server has adminstrative privileges on the box. Then do the following:

Go to Start => Programs => Administrative Tools => Local Security Policy.
Then go to Local Policies => User Rights Assignments
You should see "Create Global Objects " in the right pane.
Add "Adminstrators" to "Create Global Objects"

Cheers,

Kerry
