Field Containing Single Period Gets Transformed to NULL

The ETL tool transforms a field with a single period to NULL (since the period is the identifier for a NULL field in WebFocus).

Is there any way (or setting) to ensure that the data gets transformed as a single period? Perhaps something that can be set in the source master file....?

I would expect MISSING=ON/OFF in the FIELDNAME entry to control this behavior.
