JD Edwards integration with BizTAlk 2002 /2004
Hi,
WE have JD Edwards OneWorld XE with SP 14 applied and would like to integrate our BizTAlk 2002 or BizTAlk 2004 server to it.

Should we use the iWay adapter for BizTAlk Server 2004 which allows you to connect to JDE Oneworld XE with sp 22 or should we use the iWAy J D Edwards adapter?

Or, what is the difference between
a) the iWay JD Edwards adapter
b) the iWAy BizTAlk adapter for J D Edwards.

TIA

The iWay adapter for JDE was built to fit into any architecture. It's Java-based and runs on a variety of platforms, application servers, and other containers. It can also easily work with BizTalk Server through Web services.

The iWay BizTalk adapter for JDE was built specifically for use with BizTalk Server. Therefore it's a bit more tightly integrated and is written as a .NET assembly -- but it will only work with BizTalk Server.

So the real answer to "Which one do I use?" is another question: What needs to talk to JDE? If only BizTalk Server, the BizTalk version is a viable option. If other technologies -- especially non-Microsoft technologies -- use the standard iWay adapter.

Hope this helps,
Jake

Hi,
Thanks for the information. Does the BizTalk adapter for JDE provide/ expose more functionality than the iWay JDE adapter?

Specifically, does the JDE (JCA) adapter allow for event triggers and be used in business process integration?

TIA

No, they're functionally essentially the same, but the tooling in the BizTalk adapter is better for Microsoft-specific users.

If I understand the question correctly, yes. The JDE adapter both manages services (e.g., BizTalk asking it to perform an update in JDE) and events (e.g., a JDE user entered a new user into JDE, which emits an event, which is picked up by the adapter and transmitted to BizTalk Server).

Regards,
Jake
