As of December 1, 2020, Focal Point is retired and repurposed as a reference repository. We value the wealth of knowledge that's been shared here over the years. You'll continue to have access to this treasure trove of knowledge, for search purposes only. Moving forward, myibi is our community platform to learn, share, and collaborate. We have the same Focal Point forum categories in myibi, so you can continue to have all new conversations there. You might try creating either a Source Transformation or a Target Transformation. Source Transformations create temporary DEFINEs in the master description of the source table. The data is transformed as it is extracted and before it is stored in the SQLOUT hold file.
Target Transformations are accomplished via COMPUTEs in the underlying MODIFY (load) logic. The data is transformed as it is read from the SQLOUT hold file and loaded by the MODIFY logic.

Thank you Dan, I appreciate the explanation of the method differences between Source and Target transformation. My real issue is with the right function. What is the best (or only) function that would transform TEXT data type to AnnV type?
