Hi All,
In the new version 8.1 release. PTH is the default primary security group. But it was mentioned in the documentation to not use PTH as primary but either OPSYS or other one.

I'm wondering why can't we continue with PTH as primary user as we can have this user do all the iWay related activities just like other ones.

Thanks in advance.

My guess is that their thinking is that it is a security risk. We use a PTH id for all Report Caster jobs.

In FOCUS since 1985. Prod WF 8.0.08 (z90/Suse Linux) DB (Oracle 11g), Self Serv, Report Caster, WebServer Intel/Linux.

Yes, jgelona's suggestion is correct. It is up to the company to decide the best security to use in the long run.

WebFOCUS 8 was designed to have much tighter security then previous versions of WebFOCUS. PTH is for those who are not necessarily concerned about additional levels of security.

Additional information regarding PTH security :
•Security PTH. Access to the Reporting Server Web Console is controlled by authenticating against the user list defined at the configuration level (user IDs and passwords have to be configured in the admin.cfg file). When security is set to PTH, there is no impersonation or authentication at the level of the operating system. All server processes run as a single user ID from the operating system point of view. There is no impersonation of data agents

•The passwords do not expire and can only be changed via the reporting server console on the reporting server and within the Security Administration dialog box in the WebFOCUS client.

Thank you for participating in the Focal Point Forum
