Hi Bob,

I'm having difficulty understanding the difference between these pairs of measure load options on page 311 of the documentation:

"Add new, replace actual/target" and "Add new, increment actual/target".

"Add new, replace act/targ, delete old" and "Add new, increment act/targ, delete old"

Would you please elaborate?

Thank you.

The concept of "new" has to do with new dimensional intersections that were not in the source data the last time the data was loaded. "Old" similarly refers to values that no longer have dimensional intersections but which are being preserved for whatever reason you want.

  • Add new, replace a/t - adds new rows, replaces existing rows with new values. If there are old values - values whose keys no longer match - they are left there.
  • Add new, replace a/t, delete old - adds new rows, replaces existing rows with new values. Old values are deleted.

Not many people use the other two options:

  • Add new, increment actual/target - it adds new rows, but if it finds a match on a row, it takes the source data a/t values and MATHEMATICALLY ADDS THEM TO the existing loaded data.
  • Add new, increment actual/target, delete old - it adds new rows, but if it finds a match on a row, it takes the source data a/t values and MATHEMATICALLY ADDS THEM TO the existing loaded data.

Hope this helps.
