In the past, Hotfixes were automated with an installer that ran the upgrade process.

With HF3 and now HF4, it seems we are going to the copy and paste upgrade method which can create errors in the process handled all the files included in the HF.

Did I miss something or is there another method that we can use to perform the HF4 upgrade?

You mean PMF hotfixes? They've always been delivered in two packages for two different purposes:

• If you're upgrading within release (e.g., 5.2.3 to 5.2.3HF3), as a set of files that have to be manually copied into various folders.
  
• If you're upgrading from a previous release (e.g., 5.2.1 to 5.2.3 or 5.2.3HF3), as an installer that performs the upgrade.
  

If on the other hand, you mean WebFOCUS hotfixes, you should chat with the gentlefolk in WebFOCUS support.

We plan eventually to offer a hotfix applying program for PMF, it's just we haven't gotten to it. Sorry about that.
