[solved] WF version upgrade makes PMF unable to load Dimensions and Measures

Hi Team,

Just had my Dev environment upgraded from WF 7.6.10 to WF 7.6.11. Seems like my PMF specific settings got lost, as evidenced by my edasprof.prf APP PATH statement only containing ibisamp. I updated the edasprof.prf with my version from QA, which restored the path and the section that starts with -* Edited by PMF install. This let me into PMF and allows me to run reports. However, something is still wrong, since I can't load Dimensions or Measures.

This is the error I see when I try to load a dimension:

-*** This report is in:
/ibi/apps/mainstreet/dim_loader_load.fex
-* START TIME: 2010/03/24 16:41:27.279410
(FOC03692) Run-time Error : Unknown server EDASERVE.
(FOC03688) Run failed for called Procedure: DIM_LOADER.
TRANSACTIONS: COMMITS = 1 ROLLBACKS = 0
SEGMENTS : INCLUDED = 0 UPDATED = 0 DELETED = 0

This is what I see when I try to load a Measure:

(FOC03692) Run-time Error : Unknown server EDASERVE.
(FOC03688) Run failed for called Procedure: MEAS_LOADER.
TRANSACTIONS: COMMITS = 1 ROLLBACKS = 0
SEGMENTS : INCLUDED = 0 UPDATED = 0 DELETED = 0

So, the symptoms are the same for each; PMF does not seem to know what EDASERVE means.

I suspect some environment setting got wiped during WF upgrade.

Please let me know if there is something I can tweak. Plan B is to re-install PMF, which seems a little drastic.

Cheers,

Joey

It was discovered later that the problem in this situation was caused by the WebFOCUS environment being *reinstalled* not upgraded.

As a process, when upgrading WebFOCUS on an environment with an active PMF (or any other app, really), you should install the WebFOCUS reporting server using the "refresh binary" option, and install the WebFOCUS Client using the "upgrade" option.

After the Client installer completes, start the WebFOCUS Client Administration Console, and select the "migrate" option to migrate the Client configuration files.

Do these steps and you will have no issues with any running app, including PMF. Happy app.

Hope that info helps folks.

thanks
