Gadgets / Widgets Creation used in the Portal 201 Lab at Summit 2015
Hello,

I was in the lab 'Portal 201' at Summit 2015 and I was looking back at some of my documentation. I've attached a screenshot of the document they handed out that shows them putting four KPI metric gadgets/widgets into a portal. In case you can't see the attachment, the first one is a blue rectangle with 'Gross Profit', and number of 12,111k in white font. It has four other pieces of data in the gadget. I don't remember them mentioning where the four gadgets were created. Did they use PMF to create them or did they create them using Report Painter or HTML Composer? We haven't upgraded to App Studio yet but I still thought I could create something similar. I wanted to put a sample dashboard together with four gadgets like they had for my team so they could see whats possible in the portal. Any help pointing me to where they developed the gadgets would be a great help!

Thanks!

These were custom built direct against a data source in AppStudio. No PMF in sight.

These widgets look nice, but it depends on what you are looking for - widgets built in AppStudio are great, but if you're looking for deep taxonomy, easy to map content drills, feedback, ability to dynamically set targets, tolerances, map to higher level goals, weight them dynamically, automatically generate trends, etc., you need PMF.

These widgets sure do look nice, and we are always working to keep PMF pretty. PMF has a similar "big number" gadget today. It doesn't have a vari-colored background. Then again, the colors don't mean anything, they're colors; we will have the background map to the performance indicator so you get an eyeful on performance as well.

In the next release - 8.1, just a couple months away - PMF will gain a new Dashboard UI with lots more drag-to-deploy pre-built gadgets, with all the benefits you have today, that look great, and the Dashboard will also be even more mobile-ready and responsive to any device, in a new way that you'll like. It will be more lightweight, thus much faster than anything you've seen before.

We never stop improving our software at IB. That's one reason customers like us.
