Question:

I am accessing this board from different sites. My experience is, that the icons marking the new posts are per machine and not per my board user id. So I see posts marked as new, which I have read the day before from an internet access from another location.
Am I wrong or is this correct ?

This is sometimes a bit confusing.

Hi Roland.

Hmmm...I need to make sure I am understanding your question. As far as I know, there are no "new post" icons. There are only the icons that the users pick when they're writing a message. For example, I chose the "?" icon for this. The newest post for any forum is on the home page. Then when you click on the forum, normally the newest messages or messages that have been updated with a response, are on the top of the list. The only exception to this rule is when I "feature" a topic. When a topic is featured, it has a big exclamation point (!) icon next to it and it always remains on top. Over the past few weeks, for example, I featured a topic on "Summit Cocktails".

You can configure your page to only show you the topics from, e.g., the last 30 days, the last week or the past 24 hours. You would do this by going into "My Profile" (link at top of screen) and just changing your default view to whatever you want.

Hope this helps and clears up any confusion.

Thanks for the feedback!!

Hi Monica,

My question is concerning the colour fo the folder icon in the left hand column. They are either white or yellow. Yellow means: there is a new post or a new reply to a post. I have the situation where this folder icon is yellow on a specific post, but there is no new reply on it. The only difference is, that I viewed the board from another workstation in another place.

I hope this makes it more clear...

Thank you very much
Roland

I was just speaking with our Web Master here and he said, as far as he knows, the "New Post"
icon is based on a cookie stored on the specific machine that you're viewing posts on.

So if you view the threads from different machines, then yes, it will show up as a "New" thread if you have not viewed the message from that specific machine.

Hi Monica,

Thanks. That's what I thought. Well then.

Maybe we will see us here in New Orleans.

Regards
Roland
