Our webfocus server is in UNIX Machine.My requirement is to establish a connection between other unix box(main frame server) to pick a flat file(.txt file) and to build a report in web focus.Is this possible with out doing FTP from main frame server to web focus server and to pick direcly from main frame server to web focus server using FILEDEF

I guess the question is can you mount the file system on the mainframe unix server on the webfocus unix server.

I assume that there is not an installation of WebFOCUS on the mainframe server ?

Yes,the web focus is not installed on main frame server.Both are separate servers.So I want to fetch a flat file from main frame server to web focus server.Can I do this using FILEDEF by pointing the location to external server(mainframe server)

Else it is possible to create a adapter to fetch the flat file from mainframe server to web focus server ?

I dont want to FTP the file from main frame server to webfocus server and then create master file based on FTP'ed file .Hence is there a way we can establish a direct connection between 2 servers to fetch the file and create a report

We have this same setup and we have UNIX scripts to copy the files from our mainframe box to our WF UNIX box. Our scripts run via crontab over night.

Can you see the files from your WebFOCUS unix system ?

You mentioned that scripts are running via crontab(scheduler). But is there any option to directly configure a webfocus adapter and fetch that flat file and create a report with out using FTP or crontab to place the file in webfocus server and create a report?
