Hi, I am working on creating a Flex report using Webfocus Enable Components (in Flash Builder 4). Is there a way i can give the user an option to export the data in my Flex IBIDatagrid to an Excel or csv? Even adding a button inside the PDF would be good.
P.S : The PDF has to work on a disconected mode (not connected to the server). Appreciate your help on this. thanks much!!

My first recommendation is this: ask easier questions.

The question you're asking may get better results in a Flex forum (or a PDF forum) than here, because once you're disconnected from the server WF cannot help you anymore. It's all in the browser now, or in your case all in the PDF, which is way out the branch from the table's original source. The data is there -- Flex or PDF may have a way for you to extract it for the user.

WF Active Reports (if you purchased that option) have the ability to export their data to other formats. HTML, csv, and xml. These are html outputs that are fully self-contained like a pdf report -- they can be attached to emails or dropped onto a web page and the user can open and run them disconnected from the WF Server, including the export functions that come along for the ride. But -- they're not going to be flex and they're not going to be able to be combined with other reports like you can in a PDF doc. Your look and feel is going to be different.

I think this is your only viable option from the WebFOCUS side of the equation. Flex or PDF may offer you alternatives that are better choices.

Thank you John.. I am going to post my question in a Flex forum too. Let me tell you my requirement briefly. I would likt to know if this is possible by just WF Active PDF (rather than going for Flex builder).

1) The report has to be a disconnected PDF.
2) One page report, with Data grid (could be active grid) on left side and two charts on the Right side.
3) Three filters on the top (one list box, two radio buttons)
4) All my three reports (grid and graph) should change when the filters are changed.
I have seen this being done using Flex builder, but i wanted to know if it is possible by just using WF Active Report. Please help.

That is well out of reach of Active Reports.

That is one tough set of requirements, particularly the disconnnected part. I'd be considering contingencies now. Good luck to you.
