Greetings,
I'm very new to WebFOCUS. I have knowledge in Java, and web technologies like HTML, JS.
I'm assigned a project on WebFOCUS. I tried to gather as much information on WebFOCUS. Could you please guide me as to how should i prepare myself?

Thank you in advance,
Awaiting your reply,

You'll manage...

Some general knowledge about programming is enough. You know Java/JS, that'll do.

You might want to gather some knowledge about SQL and databases ( joins ) in general.

Since WebFOCUS is it's own language, you'll have to learn it anyway. No other experience can give you that.

If you have co-workers who work with it, they'll should be able to show you the first steps.

Assuming you are to develop reports...
Installation and configuration is a totally different world...

G'luck.

Hola. Check out the documentation link in the upper right-hand corner of this page. Look for the WebFOCUS manuals for your release. Start with anything that has the word 'tutorial' in the name. Next look at any of the manuals that refer to developing with graphical tools. Then the Functions manual and the language manual.

Happy reading!

I've been (casually) using Web Focus for several years
and still consider myself a beginner.

I second the suggestions on reading the manuals.

However, what has helped me the most is this forum.
More specifically, I done enough programming to
know I'll need certain features in any programming
language - prompt user for input, working with dates,
conditional extracts for reports, etc.

When examples are posted, I copy the code to an
ever-growing Word document and add comments with the programming
keywords I know from other languages. I then search
this document as needed. This requires about 15 minutes a day
to keep up with this forum and update the Word document.

Mike, that's a very good way of 'remembering' things.
Would you be willing to share your word doc?
