Hi all
I have 2 MFD's

OLD & NEW

the old and new MFD's contains description about the same fields but the field length differs in both.
I want to use the (new MFD) in a report, which already uses the old MFD, now i have to replace with the new MFD fields.
But the report contains a decode function, where i get the error, stating compatibility fails.
can any one give me suggestion regarding this.

Thanks
RB4U.

rb4u,

I do believe that you would benefit from attending a course about Data Processing fundementals. The questions that you have been asking of late are either operating system problems or items that would be covered on a basic WebFOCUS course.

This is not a slight against you, more the organisation that employs you. How can they expect you to function without the most basic of knowledge about what language you are to use? The good people that profer suggestions and solutions on this forum will soon tire of providing you with the training that your company should supply or fund.

You are going to have to fix the program so that it uses the lengths in defines or computes that match the master that you are using.

you are using a decode function that fails. Your type/length (obviously) differ from the old master. Locate the field it references, assuming the fieldnames remained the same, and adjust your offending decode statement to reflect the new master's type/length format.
