We need to have InfoAssist display user-friendly aliases instead of the fieldnames in the Data Pane.

This can be done by the user via the Data Panel accessed from the View menu.

1. Is there a way that the Administrator can control what is visible or hidden in the Data Pane, so that our user community sees only those field attributes we want them to see?

2. If this is not possible, is there a way to make this a default so that all users have the same attribute displayed in the Data Pane when they start up InfoAssist?

You can add some attributes in the master-file (by GUI or hand):

TITLE           = '.....'     // = User friendly name of column
ACCESS_PROPERTY = (INTERNAL)  // = Hide field from user
(Or you can create another master-file, containing only those fields you want to show)

We use Titles extensively in our master files for that very purpose. Some of our fieldnames are rather cryptic so using titles helps alot. InfoAssist will use titles to display the fields if they exist. If not, it will default to the fieldname. However, I don't think it will display the alias. The alias is the actual column name from the source data table.
