Does IBI have any plans to provide WebFOCUS as a cloud platform [PaaS]? It would be very nice to not have to worry about infrastructure and WebFOCUS patches and new release upgrades.

This would require IBI to start verifying that all new patches and major releases are always 100% backward compatible. It seems to be the wave of the future.

New Term: "CLOUD"
Old Term: "TIME-SHARE".

I never say "never" (oops...I just did) but, I see all kinds of cost, security, and overall control issues that companies will find difficult to navigate. See this wikipedia article and review the 'Issues" section. Finally, why would we want to move back to the "Time-Share" model when we succeeded in moving away from it in the mid-eighties?

Then again, what's old is new again.

Good food for thought on a misty Monday morning!

I wouldn't be surprised that a third party has already started this up.
