Hi,
We have a requirement to write a PDF from webFOCUS to an AIX server. We have only saved the PDFs on SMB windows shared locations till now, we have never come across a situation wherein we need to write files to a cross platform location.

I want to FILEDEF a pdf file to a location other than the SMB windows shared locations, which is an AIX machine.

sample code (writing to SMB - windows location(d://filename1.pdf)):
-----------------------------------------
FILEDEF filename1 DISK d://filename1.pdf
TABLE FILE EMPLOYEE
PRINT
EMP_ID
LAST_NAME
FIRST_NAME
HIRE_DATE
DEPARTMENT
CURR_SAL
ON TABLE HOLD FORMAT PDF AS filename1
END
-RUN
-----------------------------------------

I want to ideally do this via SFTP or HTTP to save the pdf to the AIX machine. I donot want to use Report Caster.

Kindly let me know how we can achieve this, what are the other write options.

regards,
gajee

Hi Gajee,

Suggestion from our technicals: Is there a reason of why you would NOT want to use ReportCaster for this as it’s probably the best way to go? But, you could probably code this pretty easily via a batch file.

Cheers,

Kerry
