we just upgraded from 5.2.3 to 7.6.4
if there is no variable passed from the html page (the user forgets to select a value from a drop down list) I get a
ODIN_2 Error: Unable to connect using ODIN
in the focexec it checks to see if the variable exists.
if it does it continues, if it doesn't a message we provide is displyed. this doesn't seem to be working with 7.6.4

here is some of the code

-SET BRNCNT=0;
-IF &BRN.EXISTS THEN GOTO FIRST ELSE GOTO DONE;
-FIRST
..... report is ran
-EXIT
-DONE
-TYPE You Must Enter a Valid Branch
-EXIT

If the variable is required then you should use javascript and check it before it is submitted to the back end server.

My thought exactly. The job should never be submitted unless all required parms are supplied. You shouldn't need to run focus code to determine whether or not to run focus code. Do all your validation first, as Texas suggests, (the Javascript for this is very simple) and THEN submit to WF.
