[CLOSED] Remove quotes around strings?
Is there any way to direct WebFOCUS not to put quotes around strings. (In that way, Excel would treat strings that are numbers as numbers.)

When you do a HOLD FORMAT COMT, numbers do not have quotes around them. Now if you have a string that is made up of numbers, for example, an SSN that is defined as an A9 field, then that would have quotes. If you don't want quotes around an alpha field that contains nothing but numbers, then use EDIT or ATODBL to convert the alpha to a number before printing.

Yes, I thought about holding to COMT, then outputting to Excel from there, but apparently the quotes show up again.

In regard to the ATODBL will that work if there really are some numbers in there sometimes?

Thanks.
