Trying to upload a spreadsheet to a flat mainframe file then create an MFD to read that. Saving it as a CSV file and then uploading does give me a comma-delimited file with each row starting a new record. But a comma-delimited file does not have fixed-length fields. What should the MFD look like? Thanks.

It's been my limited experience that based on your version, you may want to try and force a dollar sign after the last comma of each record if it is possible

Drew and Stan,

Drew's COM solution is getting me closer. But when adding ,$ to the end of each record I get FOC229 Error reading external file; symbol $ outside of text field is illegal.

Thanks,
Phyllis

Do you have DCB information in your ALLOC for the data file?

Perhaps when you added the ',$' you added to the lrecl and the alloc didn't get the new length?

just an idea - i would verify the alloc against the file dcb.
