Hi,

I’m trying to get a report of Oracle adapter, error message(if any) and tnsname.ora address of the adapters configured in a server.
I managed to get the error messages with traces.
Now I need to include the tnsnames.ora address – HOST, PORT details for those adapters..
However the traces are not showing the tnsnames address.

This is the code I used for error messages:

-SET &TEMPDIR = TEMPPATH(60,'A60');
-SET &TRACEFILE = &TEMPDIR || 'test.trc';
SET TRACEUSER = ON
SET TRACEOFF = ALL

-*SQLDI - SQL physical layer (formerly FSTRACE)
-*SQLAGGR - Optimization information (formerly FSTRACE3)
-*STMTRACE - SQL statements (formerly FSTRACE4)
-*SQLCALL -Commands and data exchange between the physical and the logical layers of the adapter.

-*Tracing
SET TRACEON = NWH//FSTRACE

SET TRACEON=SQLDI//FSTRACE
SET TRACEON=SQLAGGR//FSTRACE
SET TRACEON=STMTRACE//FSTRACE

SET TRACEUSER=&TRACEFILE
-RUN

SQL SQLORA SET DEFAULT_CONNECTION xyz
SQL SQLORA
SELECT TABLE_NAME, OWNER, TABLESPACE_NAME FROM ALL_TABLES;
TABLE FILE SQLOUT
PRINT
*
ON TABLE HOLD
END
-RUN

SET TRACEOFF = ALL
SET TRACEUSER = OFF

-*Parsing trace file
FILEDEF MASTER DISK test.mas
FILEDEF TEST DISK test.trc
-RUN
-WRITE MASTER FILENAME=TRACE, SUFFIX=FIX
-WRITE MASTER SEGNAME=TEST
-WRITE MASTER FIELDNAME=LINE, FORMAT=A200, ACTUAL=A200, $
-RUN

TABLE FILE TEST
PRINT
LINE
END
-RUN

Can anybody help me find the tnsnames HOST & PORT details for configured oracle adapters…is it possible to find it thru traces or do I have to get it using unix scripts from the tnsnames.ora file configured on the server. I’ve tried using various trace components for SQL adapter – but to no avail.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

That would indeed not be possible by using the webfocus tracing. When you define a connection to the oracle dbms, the only thing you specify is the name as it is registered in tnsnames.ora. This name will then be used by the adapter to sent on to the oracle client software. That last piece of software will access the tnsnames.ora file to find out where to go. The eda server does never ever access the tnsnames.ora file. That is a responsibility of the oracle client program.

Hi GamP,

Thanks for the quick reply and clarification.
I will try to get this information thru the unix shell scripts.

Thanks.

Since the tsnames.ora file is a text file, there isn't any reason why you couldn't use your generic master to read it as well.
