when saving a report in InfoAssist, I thought it would save the report layout as well as the data I used. But in my opinion it only saves the report layout, the query and filters. Am I correct?

You are. The point is to be able to run the report against the data as it changes. Otherwise, you’re only looking at the snapshot of the data as it existed when you saved it. However, if you wish to save the data, there is the option to HOLD.

I don't have InfoAssist in front of me now, but what do you mean with option to HOLD? Storing the data in a separate hold file?
Yes. In InfoAssist, you can create a report and hold the answer set from that report in another file for additional processing. to get there, click Data Tab and File.
