We are getting ready to upgrade our environment when 7.6.2 becomes available. This is my first upgrade so any tips or suggestions are welcome. Can you upgrade from 7.1.3 to 7.6.2, or do you have install 7.6.0 first? Do you have to unistall 7.1.3? Will my configuration be maintained? Thanks for any assistance :-)

You don't have to install 7.6.0 to get to 7.6.2. Just upgrade from 7.1.3 to 7.6.2 directly

I'd recommend that you review, the Upgrade Considerations Document first: http://documentation.informationbuilders.com/masterinde..._wf/wf_upgrade76.pdf

Once 7.6.2 is installed, use the Migration utilities to help migrate the WebFOCUS Client and etc... I think you would still need to configure cgivars.wfs and site.wfs

The server console also has a migrate utility, that'll take care of your profiles and etc...

Our test environment will be upgraded on Monday. I asked some helping hands by the technicians of IBI.
I will keep you informed about the issues I will meet in the next few weeks, since that will be important for the upgrade in the live systems that is planned in the beginning of September.

If you are upgrading from 71 then it is very important that you review the 762 install docs.

DO NOT UNINSTALL 71x BEFORE THE UPGRADE.

Item 1 is that the 762 server install will not upgrade a 71 server and so it must be a new install.
Best approach is to stop 71 install 76 and copy the config and profile files from the old to the new
OR better use the server migrate functionality, it's all in the docs.

Item 2 762 does not install the cgi so if you use that, it must be installed separately.
There is a whole section in the install doc about it, so review it carefully.
You need a separate license code, it’s FOC, ask your IB local rep or help desk for it.

Item 3 if you’re MRE then that’s a migration as well.

Item 4 depending on your webserver/servlet engine you may need to manually reconfigure, as paths may not be upgraded
correctly. And with certain servlet enginges i.e. Tomcat remember to delete the work directories otherwise it
will continue to use them and not the new .war files

Upgraded successfully from 7.1.3 to 7.6.2, and apart from me being stupid (sorry Mark, Judy and Yan), this was a really easy upgrade if you follow the instructions, and JG has probably covered the major parts very well.
