I need to suppress the total in an accordian report on a specific column. I can fake the system by making the font color tha same as the background color but if I export the report to Excel the total is there. In the sample below I would like to completely suppress by setting a Blank or 0 instead of the Totals that I styled as WHITE.
Has anyone developed a way to suppress a SUBTOTAL without resorting to color changes?

SET EXPANDBYROW = ON
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
     CAR.BODY.DEALER_COST
     CAR.BODY.RETAIL_COST
BY  LOWEST CAR.ORIGIN.COUNTRY
BY  LOWEST CAR.COMP.CAR
BY  LOWEST CAR.CARREC.MODEL
ON  CAR SUBTOTAL
ON COUNTRY SUBTOTAL
ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM NOLEAD
ON TABLE SET EXPANDABLE ON
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT HTML
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
     INCLUDE = endeflt,$
TYPE=SUBTOTAL, BY =2, COLUMN=N4, COLOR='WHITE',$
ENDSTYLE
END

Specify the columns you want subtotals for:

ON CAR SUBTOTAL RETAIL_COST

My problem is not creating the subtotal it is to selectively suppress it say on the RETAIL_COST column by retain it on the DEALER_COST column. The only way I have found to do it is by making the color of the font the same as the background. That's OK for HTML but doesn't work for EXCEL.

Sorry about that - I thought you could specify the columns to be subtotalled, but it does not work - all columns mentioned in the SUBTOTAL are visible - this is a non-AHTML example - both RETAIL_COST and WEIGHT are subtotalled on all subtotal rows:

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
DEALER_COST
RETAIL_COST
WEIGHT
LENGTH
HEIGHT

BY LOWEST COUNTRY
BY LOWEST CAR
BY LOWEST MODEL

ON CAR SUBTOTAL RETAIL_COST
ON COUNTRY SUBTOTAL WEIGHT

ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM NOLEAD
-*ON TABLE SET EXPANDABLE ON
-*ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT HTML
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
INCLUDE = ENDEFLT,$
ENDSTYLE
END

I solved the problem by converting the numeric field to an alpha field in a DEFINE. Once I did that the SUBTOTAL no longer showed a total.
