I have a report that runs fine manually with PDF output.

However, when I schedule the report with a burst value, the PDF is produced, but won't open. The same report does open properly if I select HTML as the output format.

The error message we get (from Adobe) when opening is: There was an error processing a page. A file I/O error has occurred.

I might mention that the filename after processing by ReportCaster is very long, and I sort of wonder if that might have something to do with it, e.g.: reportcaster_rc_actionitem_byresponsible_georgepatton.pdf - although as I said, it does work fine as HTML output.

Suggestions ?

WebFOCCCCUS! But I dont think the filename is an issue. I tried manually renaming a PDF with the same string and it works. You go step by step if it is a compound PDF. Put an -EXIT after each TABLE FILE request and see where the issue prevails. Some simple thing will give you luck. Such things happened to me many a times with WebFOCUS.

All D Best !!

Thanks,

Ramkumar.

Hello George,

if the filename (with attached burst value) is the problem:
If you use the burst funktionality,
the first value of your "BY" box was the burst
value and it should not be a variable character string, Format e. g. A10V the V at the end means that is a variable character.
This is the reason for strange filenames with spaces and numbers.

My solution:
Create a self defined value with the format A10 or as long as you need
and put your variable character value in it.
put this field at the top positon of the "BY" box. You can set field to "hide" of don't need this field in your report.
In your selfdefined field you can also redesign
the burst value, if it's necessary.

I'll hope that help you

Bernd

Hello Ramkumar and Bernd,

Thanks for your suggestions but unfortunately none of them apply in this case. The burst field is already defined properly - and the attachment does get distributed correctly to 90% of the recipients. It is only with a couple of them that I get the error message.

Did you able to run it as a report? Is report able to generate in PDF for those few users?

Something might be in the data. Take a look on the data for those few users and compare it with the one it works.
