Hi Antony,

Can you please be a little more detailed about what the problem is? Are there any error messages?

For this type of questions related to installation and configurations, please contact Information Builders’ Customer Support Services and open a case for assistance. You may either call at 1-800-736-6130, or access the online system InfoResponse at http://techsupport.ibi.com. Here is a list of information to be ready when you call: http://techsupport.ibi.com/before_you_call.jsp.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Kerry

I am getting the following error message while logging in to the ReportCaster.

"
Unable to communicate with the Distribution Server to obtain configuration information Please confirm that the Distribution Server is started and that the values of the ‘Distribution Server’ server host and port are correct.
"

I think that the ‘Distribution Server’ needs to be configured. While installing report caster, I selected "Focus" database for repository.

Is there any document for Distribution Server configuration?

Is your ReportCaster Distribution server is started in Services?

If not, follow these steps

1. goto start --> settings --> control panel --> Administrative tools --> services

2. In services, start the Reportcaster Distribution Server.

3. Then try open the reportcaster.

Hope this helps,

If you are using a FOCUS database as your repository, make sure that your FDS listener is started in the WebFOCUS Reporting Server Console(http://servername:8121).

Check the /ibi/srv71/wfs/catalog directory and make sure the bot*.foc files have been created. If they are not present, then you will need to stop the FDS Listener, and then run the create utility under the ReportCaster program files folder.

Let me know if that helps.

Hi Joe,

I could not find any file starts with 'bot'. Hence, can you please tell me the process to recreate those foc files?

Thanks

Antony,

Check out the WebFOCUS Installation and Configuration manual available in PDF format
WebFOCUS and ReportCaster Installation and Configuration for Windows 7.1.3

Pages 8-2 to 8-6 are exactly what you need. They show you how to stop the FOCUS Database Server(FDS Listener) and then run the create utility.

Please let me know if this helps.

Joe
