In this example I am trying to hide the middle by clause by a NOPRINT and it does not work? Is there a way that I can hide a slice/segmentation that is in the middle of two different segmentations? I have tried an AS ' ' but that is just naming the series. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Nick

Whatever you put in for BY field is printed in the graph, regardless.
So, what I did to 'solve' this was not to print the actual field, but apply it as a means of indicating the sort order, since you do need the sort order.
This looks a bit like this:
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM SALES
COMPUTE CNTR/I1 = IF COUNTRY EQ LAST COUNTRY THEN CNTR+1 ELSE 1;
BY COUNTRY
BY RPM
BY CAR
ON TABLE HOLD
END

DEFINE FILE HOLD
ORDER/A20 = EDIT(CNTR) | '. ' | CAR;
END

GRAPH FILE HOLD
SUM   SALES
BY    COUNTRY
BY ORDER
and then put in GRXAXIS 2 iso 3.
This way I turned the RPM field into the sort order and added it to the car field so that the graph will still sort correctly. Only thing is that you now have a kind of ranking with the car, but that's better than having a bogus extra column, I think.

GamP, that is a work around but that is not exactly what we need. I'm needing to find a way that doesn't include the sort order. If we were to trim/strip/substr the field, would it then sort by the actual field or the modified field? That's what I need to figure out this problem. I need a sort order that does not print.

Yes, I know it's a work around. But there is no way in Graph to have a non-printing by field.
Since you do need the intermediate but invisible sorting, there is really no other way of doing this.. at least not that I know of.
