Hi
We are using the webfocus to get the reports in our Framework .

To enter the creteria's by user we are using the JAVA. From the JAVA user can enter the filer creteria's. In front end we are using the validations .Once the validations compleated we are hitting the WFServlet.

For Every Report we are creating the java Applications and the Webfocus code .

To overcome this issue . How to get the report framework ?

Is MRE Reports will help me ?

Thanks
Gobinath Velusamy

Looking at the number of people who have viewed your issue and that no one has responded makes me think that none of us, including me are understanding what it is you want to do. Perhaps you could restate your question.

Hi Bright

My Question is how to make the webfocus reports more generic?

IBI have just opened an office in India
perhaps you could get a consultant from that
office to come to your site and help you.
Or take some classes offered there.
I agree w/ "Bright", your question appears to be wide open and very basic.
To make any given .fex operate for a variety of situations, we use &variables , set by the user's selctions made in thelaunch page.
If, for example, a launch page has a variable for COUNTRY selected from a dropdown list and using
<SELECT...>

syntax, then the fex called by the form would look like this:

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT *
IF COUNTRY EQ &COUNTRY
END

so, the way i read your question is that you need to know about using &vars in your fex code.
Such things are discussed in the very beginning FOCUS language classes you can take at your local sales office, or by downloading the manuals from the ibi website and reading the one called 'DEVELOPER STUDIO GETTING STARTED' or
'CREATING REPORTS WITH GUI TOOLS' or
'DEVELOPING REPORTING APPLICATIONS'.

Seems to me that you want something like the Century Corp Demo, parameterised reports.

Whilst agreeing with the sentiment of PTP, I would like to pick up on his last comment regarding the fact that a lot of "great contributors to stop helping deserving others.".

Please remember that this community is populated by a vast array of people who give their insight freely, and asking for help when it is quite obvious that the requester can not be bothered to help themselves (or their company bothered to help them via training) is only going to receive a blank input.

So everyone, please, help yourself first by following the requests of the board admin and update your signatures. Secondly, take advantage of the existing wealth of information at your fingertips and use the search funtion. Most importantly, ensure that you have sufficient training to match the needs of your position within your company.

The last one is also a huge responsibility of your company, to ensure that you are trained properly, so if you haven't had training, then ask for it. If necessary show your bosses the responses that you are getting implying that you need training. If an individual continues to show disregard (and disrespect?) to the contributors here, then I am sure that responses may not be forthcoming for the culprits (anyone remember that language?).

Many of you will already notice that some of the more prolific posters here already deny responses to those such as Gobinath. Perhaps if more contributors follow that action then they will be forced to help themselves first?

Finally I will mention that these comments are my own, and do not imply any agreement from the administrators of this Forum nor the company (Information Builders) who supply the platform.

PTP, as a relatively new member i find it surprising how some people act on here,

all i would add is that if you ask a question and someone answers you must acknowledge that and at least tell them why the solution they took time to write for you doesn't work.
