HI,
Could you help me to convert HYYMDS format to A8? I have a field DT_TM_ADDED that I filter on and I need to say WHERE DT_TM_ADDED GT '20071201'.Current display of this field is 2007/09/19 19:01:09
THANKS

Lera,

Easy way:

DATE1/YYMD = HDATE(DT_TM_ADDED, 'YYMD');
DATE2/I8YYMD = DATE1;
DATE3/A8 = EDIT(DATE2,'9999$99$99');

DATECVT may work as well, might want to check that...

Or you could go the other way:

In a WHERE clause, a date-time constant must use the DT( ) format:

TABLE FILE VIDEOTR2
PRINT CUSTID TRANSDATE
WHERE TRANSDATE GT DT(2000/01/01 02:57:25)
END
The output is:

CUSTID TRANSDATE
------ ---------
1118 2000/06/26 05:45
1237 2000/02/05 03:30

Lera,

Use the HCNVRT function to convert DATE TIME field data to alphanumeric data.

DT_TM_ADDED_ALPHA/A8 = HCNVRT(DT_TM_ADDED, '(H8)', 8 , 'A8');

Here's an example:

DEFINE FILE CAR
TODAY_HYYMDS/HYYMDS = HINPUT(8,'&YYMD', 8,'HYYMDS');
TODAY_HYYMDS_ALPHA/A8 = HCNVRT(TODAY_HYYMDS, '(H8)', 8 , 'A8');
END

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
TODAY_HYYMDS
TODAY_HYYMDS_ALPHA
COUNTRY
WHERE RECORDLIMIT EQ 1
END
