[CLOSED] EXL2K vs XLSX - Special characters
Hello

I have a text file with 2 fields in it. One field is A10 and other is A100. We used to have EXL2K format in WF7 and data used to show up fine. Now in WF8, we changed to "ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT XLSX" and A100 field is showing up with special characters at the beginning and ending of the actual data in that field. It shows 2 boxes. No issues with HTML/PDF/EXL2K output format. Issue only with EXL07/XLSX.

I tried TRIM etc but not able to get rid of those. Please suggest any debug options.

Thank you.

Dan, my data doesn't have any special characters but they are showing up in Excel 2007. In EXL2k, data is clean.

Do you see special characters when you run this?
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT CAR
BY COUNTRY
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT XLSX
END

That is what I was thinking. If so, the special characters are the binary length of the data.

It would be interesting to know what the byte-values of those characters are.

You can unzip the xlsx file into a directory with xml files. This particular data is in one of them, that may take some digging. The byte-value can be seen using a hex-editor or similar tool.
