To whom it may concern:

I would like to create a synonym for a table in my oracle database. This table so_sales_credits is owned by schema oe. If I log on to the database as user genuser I can query this table (select * from oe.so_sales_credits;) and I see results.

We connect to our oracle database from webfocus with the genuser account. When I attempt to create a synonym I filter by Object name = on the first step and click Next. I can see the table in the results, and in the results the owner is shown as OE. I check the checkbox next to this table and click the Create Synonym button. This is when I receive the error:

(FOC1400) SQLCODE IS 1031 (HEX: 00000407 XOPEN: 42000 : (1031) [42000] ORA-01031: insufficient privileges.

In our oracle database we do have a synonym for this table called apps.so_sales_credits but this table does not appear in the results when I attempt to create the synonym. I have also tried creating a public synonym for this table but that does not help the issue.

I am using Application Studio (8.0.0.8) to produce this error.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Do you have any WebFOCUS synonyms pointing to Oracle? If you do, can you write a simple report to bring back a couple of columns?

I would double check the Oracle connection you think you're using to make sure you can test it successfully against Oracle.

You may want to also contact tech support. They can take a look at the traces and tell you very specifically what the problem is faster than here.

Just to update this in case anyone else experiences this issue, I believe this is a bug in App Studio.

I was able to create my synonym by modifying the text behind an existing but similar synonym that points to the same DB and schema.

Thank you for your response.

Have you tried using the WebFOCUS reporting server to create the synonym for the problem table?

ORA-01031

Hi Dusty,

ORA-01031: insufficient privileges happens when the object exists in the schema but do not have any access to that object.

can you please check on DB side.
