If you mean uploading a file to the server, you should use server side programming like PHP/JSP/ASP. Don't think webfocus can do this.

7.66 and 7.704
System: Windows / AIX / Linux
Output: Mostly HTML, with some PDF, Excel and Lotus(!)

You can go to the Data Server folder and select your application. Then open your application folder and select the 'Master File' folder. Right mouse click on the folder and select 'New' and then select 'Upload Data File' and follow the instructions.

This is how we've done it in the past (we used jsp). It's not all that hard and there's plenty of simple examples on the Internet, but you need to set WebFOCUS Maintain aside for a moment to do it. Have a web programmer look into it. I'd recommend having your Maintain screen pop open a small window just for file-upload, a simple jsp call with a couple of widgets to get the job done.

It's a remarkably useful way to get flat files up onto the server so that they can be master-filed and read as a data source. We did it as a simple html page, a file-browse widget in a jsp page that, upon submission, kicked off an I-Way routine via the url call to consume the file's contents. This let endusers in a BID Dashboard upload files from their PC for batch processing.

J.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply.
How can we integrate JSP with maintain event?
We don't have I-Way licence and hence can not use it.
Please advise.

Thanks.

You can perform a JSP from a JavaScript event. Here is an example that I use to perform a JSP from an event. It collects values from the form and passed them into the procedure. It then uses a window.open to kick off the procedure.

function OnButton1_Click() {
webpage = "http://localhost:8080/approot/Email/test3.jsp";
getTo = document.getElementById("To_Edit").value;
getCc = document.getElementById("Cc_Edit").value;
getFrom = document.getElementById("From_Edit").value;
getSubject = document.getElementById("Subject_Edit").value;
getBody = document.getElementById("MultiEditBox1").value;
url = webpage + "?getTo=" + getTo + "&getFrom=" + getFrom + "&getCc=" + getCc + "&getSubj=" + getSubject + "&getBody=" + getBody;
window.open(url,"emailwin");
}

"Upon submission, kicked off an I-Way routine via the url call to consume the file's contents"

We only have webfocus not iway, How do you think can we upload this file to the data server?
