Hi ,

Curious to see a way to create a FORM (not TABULAR) kind of report in webfocus. I know how to create a tabular report with desired stylesheets are attached to give proper look and feel.

Suppose I have a requirement like print the car details in a below given format .

Page 1 looks like ,

--------------------------------------
CAR FEATURES Report
Run Date : 10th Oct 2008
Operator : Johney
Page 1 0f 2
--------------------------------------
Make : HYUNDAI
Variant : xxxxxx
Engine : 1.7
Color : White

Page 2 looks like ,

--------------------------------------
CAR FEATURES Report
Run Date : 10th Oct 2008
Operator : Johney
Page 2 0f 2
--------------------------------------
Make : suzuki
Variant : SSSSSs
Engine : 1.1
Color : Black

I believe I can do it by arranging it in the page header but I dont know whether we can correctly arrange the details with correct page numbers as I presented above (FORM type display).

TABLE FILE CAR
ON TABLE SUBHEAD
"CAR MODEL
 <MAKE
"
....
....

Now I would like to know whether we can do it in the DATA (style)itself rather than using TABHEADING(style)

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
MAKE AS "CAR MODEL"
....
....

I believe TABULAR/FORM type display is very basic requirement of any reporting tool and in Webfocus also have some way to do the same

Thanks and regards,
Johney Joseph.

Page numbering usually goes in page headings/footing so that is your best bet and will get you the top portion of your report. TABPAGENO and TABLASTPAGE are "internal" fields available for custom placement of page numbering.

The rest of the report can be accomplished a number of ways. A couple -

You can use the OVER command to stack your fields and column titles.

You can continue to use HEADING or SUBHEAD syntax and embed the fields in the text - like you've done with your SUBHEAD example
