[CLOSED] Flat file / FTP adaptor?
Has anyone used the FLAT file / FTP adapter? And, can you share your experience?

Have you been able to use it for anything besides cobol files?

Flat file is a common item to report against, they can be delimited as well. This manual explains the use. Look at the delimited flat files chapter https://webfocusinfocenter.inf...adapteradmin8207.pdf

I am not aware of an FTP adapter what are you wanting to do with FTP?

Hello Chuck,

I'm not trying to read a delimited file.

I'm trying to use the flat file / ftp adapter.

Fire up your reporting server, and add an adapter. Go looking for the flat file adapter. Add it.

Now that it's added, go try to configure it.
Notice it has FTP settings. (surprise, surprise)

Is anyone using this flat file / ftp adaptor?

And, does it do anything besides cobol copybooks.

Frankly, it seems like a mis-named adapter to me.

Thanks for clarifying, I now see what you see. I have never used it. When you do ON TABLE HOLD AS carhold FORMAT BINARY it create a flat file (not delimted) with SUFFIX=FIX like my example below.

FILENAME=CARHOLD , SUFFIX=FIX , IOTYPE=BINARY, $
DATASET=baseapp/carhold.ftm, $
SEGMENT=CARHOLD, SEGTYPE=S2, $
FIELDNAME=COUNTRY, ALIAS=E01, USAGE=A10, ACTUAL=A12, $
FIELDNAME=CAR, ALIAS=E02, USAGE=A16, ACTUAL=A16, $
FIELDNAME=DEALER_COST, ALIAS=E03, USAGE=D7, ACTUAL=D08, $
FIELDNAME=SEATS, ALIAS=E04, USAGE=I3, ACTUAL=I04, $
