Using Dashboard for customer portal?

Hi all

We are in the process of developing a customer facing application that will allow our customers to login to an Extranet application in order to see some data (mostly historical).

We plan on using WebFocus to generate and display the reports.

We currently do not own MRE or dashboard. Somebody told me that you can use the dashboard to create a customer portal. Our alternative is to purchase a product like IBM WebSphere portal or to do custom coding.

Does anybody have any experience using Dashboard in this way (customer portal). What skills does dashboard require. What have you done for authentication/security and personalization.

I am looking for some real-world experience - not a whitepaper

Thanks in advance

Joe

totally correct. Your sales rep could demo for you. You populate the home pages with fex output (tables +/or grafs)..and users pick what they want to see. MRE per-se is all about security and login id's determining domain access. Its way cool. Pretty easy to admin.
here's the link to read about it

All depends on what your expectations are. It's a great tool for displaying WebFOCUS reports but it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of a real portal. It doesn't have the price of one either.
