Consider that OLAP actually reruns the fex with the modified sort fields, metrics and measures, and then run the final report into OLAP via a HOLD file.

Santhu,

What exactly is the problem with this performance issue in OLAP?
Remember, OLAP will retrieve the dropdown values and such from the real live data.
Also, when changing selections and such and doing a run, OLAP again re-runs the entire procedure to produce the changed output.

In order to improve the performance in OLAP you need to run against a hold file
that contains your final data matrix.

Prior to 7.6.6 this meant creating the hold file and master in a location other than
edatemp and putting in additional code to ensure that different users did not pick
up someone elses data by accident.

In 7.6.6 You can use the new caching functionality to manage this for you.

OLAP works on the basis of the code created in the HTML going back to the last -RUN
before the generation step and so it can be manipulated/tricked into doing what you want
by careful use of -RUN statements.

Upgrade to 7.6.6 if you need the functionality without a lot of work.

JG,

FOCCACHE is available in 7.6.5 and is a very cool feature.

Check it out, Santhu. If you have a large backend file and too many dimensions with too many discreet values, it will take a long time to populate the boxed. The prior posters are correct in their assessments. You'll need to re-architect a bit.
