I've seen a lot of posts on how to pad a field. I think I am following the directions as shown. However I'm still not getting the expected output. I'm wondering if it's the file type on the output. I am using XLSX. I haven't seen any comments about what the file type should be if you want a fixed length file and to preserve the spaces in your fields.

I'm not able to locally save any "unstyled" file types. I click on the ellipses and it doesn't do anything. If someone can confirm that's what I need for fixed length, then I can continue pursuing getting that to work.

Have you tried FORMAT WP?

ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT WP

seems to do what you're looking for.

Thank you BabakNYC! That did work!

I also tried changing the output in the code, not using the GUI (not sure why I didn't try that before), and that finally let me save the file that way as well.

But I think the WP format is going to be the easiest to work with.
