Hi All

I'm attempting to create a chart from a HOLD file in FOCUS format that I've created as a Temporary File from the CAR database. The issue that I have is that after the report has run and created the HOLD file, it is not available to select when I go New > Chart in the Procedure View.

Here's the code that the GUI has generated when creating the HOLD file:

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
CAR.BODY.DEALER_COST
CAR.BODY.RETAIL_COST
CAR.BODY.SALES
BY CAR.ORIGIN.COUNTRY
BY CAR.COMP.CAR
BY CAR.CARREC.MODEL
ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM NOLEAD
ON TABLE SET ASNAMES ON
ON TABLE NOTOTAL
ON TABLE HOLD AS CARHOLD FORMAT FOCUS INDEX 'CAR.ORIGIN.COUNTRY' 'CAR.COMP.CAR' 'CAR.CARREC.MODEL'
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
INCLUDE = IBFS:/EDA/EDASERVE/_EDAHOME/ETC/endeflt.sty,
$
ENDSTYLE
END

I then right click 'Report' in the Procedure View and select New > Chart. The Chart Wizard starts but the list of master files does not include CARHOLD.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Solved: When creating the hold file, I had to specify the App folder in which the file is written to disk. It wouldn't work when just trying to use a HOLD file held in memory.

ON TABLE HOLD AS 'myapp/carhold' FORMAT FOCUS INDEX 'CAR.ORIGIN.COUNTRY' 'CAR.COMP.CAR' 'CAR.CARREC.MODEL'

how about APP HOLD at the beginning of the hold procedure pointing to a folder for the hold file

if this report can be run by multiple users at the same time writing to an app folder may cause unpredictable results. You may want to try to use foccache/carhold so each users session will have their own version of carhold.
