Greetings all and thank you in advance for any insights. We are in the process of researching going from 7705M to 8.1x. It appears that the table definitions that used to be stored on the server (apps folder) are now stored in a database. We would like any insights on using Oracle. We have had difficulty finding anyone using Oracle for this purpose. Thanks again.

apps folders (Reporting Server folders aka EDASERVE) are still kept on the reporting server, it's the MRE section (which are previously htm files in WF7 and before) that is now stored into tables (BLOB) when using WF8.

So depending where you have your .mas defined in WF7 (EDASERVE or MRE) this is where they will be in WF8.

From WF7 -> to WF8
WF7 EDASERVE -> WF8 EDASERVE
WF7 MRE (mas/fex/htm/... files which are kept as text files) -> WF8 Content (BLOB tables)

do you have any specific questions or concerns regarding using oracle? We have been on 8008 for two years now and use Oracle for the repositories. I haven't noticed any issues yet from doing so.

Thanks all for responding. We are looking for sizing. I know they say 1.75 X apps but more specific I guess. Also, what rights and privileges does the application user (oracle) need? I assume since we use character set 137 currently then that would still be the character set used for 8x.
The IBI staff does not seem to know much about Oracle.
