Hey folks,

I'm curious to know if any of you have used Adobe Flash Builder (formerly known as Adobe Flex Builder) with your WebFOCUS environment. What I am specifically wondering is if you have figured out the hooks necessary to talk to WebFOCUS. I'd love to be able to use the objects already built by IBI but we just don't have the budget for that so we're trying to see how far we can get on our own.

If you are one of those people will you be willing to share some hints, tips, or gotchas that you have overcome?

Thanks a bunch!

Dan

Well, I'll take the silence as a 'no'.

Might the people in the discussion, Flex reports without Enable/InfoAssist, be willing to help out?

Hi Dan,

I putzed with Flex for about 2 weeks just like you without the Enable product from IB. I was able to get it talking to WebFocus to return data and populate some of the Flex controls but it was a difficult road.

For me, a lot of the issue is learning the syntax and actionscript language to try and get to where I wanted to go. At this point, I put it on hold. I'm pushing more into the HTML, Ajax, Javascript side of things to leverage reusable code and more seamless interaction of the applications. It's been working well but I'll probably look at Flex again when I get back from Summit. I'd like to see what they have on tap there because, frankly, there hasn't been much action, at least locally here in the Twin Cities, to make me want to get immersed in Flex. But we'll see....
