Use CHGDAT to convert date, use LCWORD to convert case, use EDIT to add comma:

-SET &FR_DT = &YYMD;

-SET &FR_DTX = EDIT(LCWORD(17,CHGDAT('YYMD', 'MTDYY', &FR_DT.EVAL, 'A17'), 'A17'),'999999,99999');

-TYPE &FR_DT / &FR_DTX

Richie,
quote:

-READ VSAMPARM &dob.A8.,&race.A25.,&sex.A6.,&partyname.A47.

Beware: you are mixing 2 -READ formats.
If you add the length after the &variable then you shouldn't use a comma but a space.
If you use a comma, Focus will look for commas in the input file.

Have a look here for 7.6 functions.

CHGDAT is one of many Date related functions.

I have found myself using DATETRAN quite often, due to its extensive formatting options, assuning your date is a Smart Date.
