All,
I have 3 reports.This reports are executed based on the period (MM/YYYY).I am showing the period in the header of the report. But whenever the report becomes empty then header shows only a DOT. I am using SET EMPTYREPORT=ANSI to show the empty report.If the header value is a text/constant value it shows even in the empty report.But VARIABLES are not displaying in the empty reports.
Any idea how to resolve this issue.

It depends what you mean by variables really. From what you say I presume you mean DEFINEd variables, which will not show in the header. DEFINEd fields are only evaluated for each referenced value in the TABLE, and if no records are retrieved in the TABLE request (EMPTYREPORT) then the DEFINE cannot evaluate.

If you are setting up a DEFINE base on an &var, then use the &var itself in the heading rather than the DEFINE field, for example:
DEFINE FILE CAR
T_CAR/A20 = '&CAR';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
HEADING
" &CAR"
.
.

rather than
DEFINE FILE CAR
T_CAR/A20 = '&CAR';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
HEADING
" <T_CAR"
.
.
