If you know the release of the version of FOCUS, I recommend that you download the manual for that version and your platform from the IBI web site. You can use the Tech Doc link in the upper right corner of this page to get there.

As an aside, for the most part the language is the same. You will have to change any operating system type commands, however. For instance, if FOCUS is on the mainframe and WebFOCUS is on Windows, the DYNAMs will have to be changed to FILEDEFs or APP FIs.

Happy reading!

What do you mean by "the old version of FOCUS code." The FOCUS code has not changed all that much in years. Just minor additions here and there. If you are working on a migration like this and you don't already know that, I would definitely do some reading up.

In a couple of different projects like this, it proved to be not very difficult as long as you are thorough in reviewing your code. (meaning that not a lot of things had to change from the curent FOCUS code base.)

Regards,

Darin

If you are looking for information on how to make the FOCUS-to-WebFOCUS conversion faster and easier, see my information at: http://bi-software-webfocus.blogspot.com/

I have software tools and methodologies for automating much of the manual work in converting FOCUS to WebFOCUS.

If you have any questions, let me know.
