Hi:

I have a dataset with 5 columns of data, which are sorted BY data in field one. When displayed, the sort field is displayed in column one and the detail records occupy fields 2-5 below it.

How can I shift my detail records to the left so they are partially beneath the sort field in column 1? Something like this:

xxxxx
->xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx
xxxxx
->xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx

instead of this:

xxxxx
->->->xxxxx xxxxx...
xxxxx
->->->xxxxx xxxxx...

Output format will be pdf but I'm interested in figuring it out with html, too.

TIA!

The FOLD-LINE option will do it for PDF, but not for HTML. In the GUI it's under the properties general tab, it is used as an ON option for a BY field.

Really cannot think how to do this for HTML ouput.

I would put the value of column 1 in a SUBHEAD, and not on a line.

i agree with California...especially if you want the same fex to produce both a pdf and an html...
then have your second column (first visible) be a dummy field

DUMMY/A35='&|nbsp;&|nbsp;&|nbsp;&|nbsp;&|nbsp;';
and that will fake your spacing.

Another idea that will work for hmtl only is OVER instead of subhead
SUM SALES OVER COSTS REVENUE WEIGHT etc.
and use a .css with the CLASS associated with your COSTS field have a left padding
 <TD   style="padding-left: 10 ">

but its overkill.
