Hello, everyone. I am very new to WebFOCUS, and I haven't found anything particularly useful by searching, so thanks in advance for humoring me. Please let me know if I should provide more info.

One of my colleagues is requesting that I configure a way for WebFOCUS to collect information from files in a specific folder on our shared drive. How do I do this? I fiddled around with it, but only managed to create a non-functional remote server adapter...

The file server is Windows Server 2008, this is a domain environment, and I'm using the Data Management Console(release 80).

Again, thanks for any assistance.

You may want to check the APP MAP command and utilize it in your procedure. I've done something similar on a shared drive, but I had to create master & access files to associate to the sources I was trying to read from (in this case they were a few excel documents).

Depending on your security setup, this might not be an option though.

Welcome to Focal Point. It is a great place to get answers to your development questions!

The shared drive needs to be permanently mapped to the machine where the reporting server is installed and then as Mike suggested use APP MAP to create a pointer to that folder. You will also need to add the application name you APP MAP to the APP PATH so WebFOCUS can find the files at run time.

Thank you for using Focal Point!
