Is there a way to open a drilldown report in a new tab (rather than a new window)?

As far as I know, not possible.

If you can find a javascript method of doing it, then that is a possibility.

If there is no javascript method available, which I do not think there is, then no.

I would try this in a different forum.

I don't even know if the javascript open command supports tabs, or if the different browsers would be called the same way.

If you are talking IE7 or 8 then it is an option under the advanced tab in Internet Options.

There is probably an alternative in FF etc.

Out of Curoisity, Is there a way we can access or call a JS command or function in the FOCEXEC in the Styling ?

If so this can be done someway... Else, Drilldown even have to be implemented in our own way. But EXCEL and PDF would cause problems that way.

Thanks,

Ramkumar.

The answer I used has 3 parts:

1)Set the Browser to “Open links from other programs in: A new tab in the current window."“Open links from other programs in: A new tab in the current window."

2)The following is in the stylesheet of the graph I’m drilling from (There are 4 DRILLMENUITEMs) :
TYPE=DATA,
ACROSSCOLUMN=N1, "Chart column to drill from"
TARGET='_blank', "(_blank - NOT _new)"
DRILLMENUITEM='Chart of Student Count by Year', "drill menu item"
FOCEXEC= chart2.fex( \ "drilldown fex to execute"
GRAD_YEAR=A1 \ ), "Parameter passed to fex"
DRILLMENUITEM='Detail Report on the Screen',
FOCEXEC= report1a_test.fex( \
GRAD_YEAR=A1 \
WFFMT='HTML' \ ), "Specify the output format!"
DRILLMENUITEM='Detail Report in PDF',
FOCEXEC=report1a_test.fex( \
GRAD_YEAR=A1 \
WFFMT='PDF' \ ),
DRILLMENUITEM='Detail Report in Excel',
FOCEXEC=report1a_test.fex( \
GRAD_YEAR=A1 \
WFFMT='EXL2K' \ ),
$
3)Be sure to include the following in report1a.fex:
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT &WFFMT.EVAL
(The format is specified in the DRILLMENUITEM.)

As an additional benefit, users can decide AFTER they see the report if they want the drilldown on the screen, in PDF, or in Excel.

Thanks to everyone for your quick and helpful responses!!
